Style Save No. 6
Fashion picks for these “feels like summer but, entering a fall state of style” moments
Just arrived back home, fresh from our family pre back-to-school travels to O’ahu, I find myself in that weird state of “I’m still very much feeling Summer Vibes” and the summer climate! yet, can’t ignore those very strong “Oh, to be in a cool Fall Mood” energies.
I have arrived at a sartorial compromise of gravitating towards those fashion things that bring the best of both worlds: buy now, wear now, definitely will wear [layered] for later.” If I’m investing in something, it better be something that is relevant now but, also, in the months to come via fresh layering plus, a cool boot pairing.
So, here are my top Summer-to-Fall fashion contenders. Enticing, comfortable, versatile, seasonless investment pieces that will translate well into the cooler days to come.
Field Jackets
Here are three that make my day every time I see them.
First, and particularly my favorite of the three, is this Siedres Polca Jacket, on pre-order status with MO. It is a mix of bomber jacket turned field jacket (at least in my style brain) and which is why I am currently excitedly waiting for its delivery come October. Its structured oversized silhouette with rich caramel hue is something I knew immediately I would wear with just about everything this Fall. One outfit idea is pairing over a sleek short bodysuit, sneakers or loafers, ankle socks and a hoodie vest. If this one calls your name, run! don’t walk. Limited quantities for pre-order available over on MO.

Up next is this gorgeous Sea New York Demi Jacket. Something about its inherently very heritage vibe turned on its head via a cool off-duty oversized silhouette paired with the whimsical animal details is the head turner for me. It ticks all the boxes for versatility with its classic rich tones, wearability composed of cotton-canvas and corduroy and playfulness via the embroidered animals. I can already envision pairing over my favorite jeans and crewneck sweater for Fall or over a slinky evening dress for now. I would go full-out on the oversize fit of the piece and take a size up or even two!

The Heritage Barn Jacket from J.Crew which first appeared months ago on my radar is now On Sale! at under $120. This piece exudes classic prep appeal and gets updated via its sleek/slimmer fit throughout but, with its longer silhouette, adds a slight bit of drama (the good kind!) is a good contrast outerwear option to mini skirts, knit mini dresses or slimmer denim options. Pair with short denim shorts plus loafers and ankle socks now, pair with a knit mini dress plus tights and loafers/ballerinas, later.
As a bonus pick, I couldn’t resist including this playful Chore Jacket by J. Crew as well. Pair with camel and caramel toned turtlenecks or crewneck sweaters for Fall, this is a festive way to layer on the Fall cheer. (Tip: I would go up a size or two for more of an effortless off-duty vibe.)

‘Boxing’ Boots
My obsession with ‘boxing’ style boots goes way back. I used to have a pair of Puma Boxing Boots that were practically on daily repeat. As with most good things, too much became well, too much. I forced myself to gravitate away from that favorite pair and about a dozen or so years later, I found myself walking back into these shoes.
This time, with a slightly more stylish update, via a pair of pre-loved Gucci ‘boxing’ boots I found via Vestiaire Collective. Perfect with shorts and a blazer (reference below outfit from earlier this week) to add a touch of sportiness to a casual office look or with a mini dress to add a bit of edge.

Here is a round up of three options I think will add that perfect note of sporty boots to your wardrobe for now and for Fall. Plus, think of the perfect ‘match’ these would make with your field jacket +shorts for now!
A sleek, edgy and statement boot is always a closet star. These Jeffrey Campbell Boxing Boots provide all this plus, elongate the leg via the white leather segment that runs the length of the calf through the toe. Currently on sale, these are clocking in at under $150. :)
These next ones I love for their classic sport vibe, slightly metallic sheen and contrasting neon orange stripes. The Adidas Japan VH boots would go amazingly well with everything due to their modern neutral aesthetic (see this article I wrote where I talk all about how metallics are the new neutral). Note: these are in men’s sizing.

Lastly, but not least, I found a pre-loved pair of Gucci ‘boxing’ boots in leather in a size US 7. I can attest to the comfort of these boots ( I own the tan with brown canvas/leather version) plus, love how the GG print adds a hint of interest to the leather.
Short Jumpsuits
Lately, I have been craving a one-and-done outfit solution, but, a good one! This may sound lazy but, there are days where I want the layers to speak and be the center of attention. Hence, where this essential outfit base comes in. Visualize the aforementioned field jackets, I am going to pick the Siedres Polca Jacket (‘cuz it’s my fave) layered atop one of the below short jumpsuits that I am recommending. Make it the espresso toned option, below. Then, add on the ‘boxing’ boots we discussed and you have a really good off-duty look that’s sporty, comfortable and cool. My dream Fall off-duty oufit.
Here’s the option I mentioned. This Adanola Ultimate Romper in Espresso Brown is the luxe option (at a very non-luxe price, under $100) to pair for a very sporty tonal look with the Polca Jacket. OR, the option to pair with any jacket for that matter. I am very into seamless options and lush hues at the moment, so this short sleeve romper fits the bill - put together off-duty vibes.

Ok and this Adanola Ultimate Romper in Midnight Blue, is amazing, too. Adanola for the win! The perfect outfit base to build out a very chic look - just pair a camel toned blazer (here are two great options: here and here!) over this blue number along with a pair of ribbed socks (I like these from Calzedonia) and loafers or Maryjane flats (I am partial to these silver ones here) and you are good to go from coffee to lunch to zoom call.

Hoodie Vests
I am so excited to layer one of these solo over above jumpsuits for now and layered under a blazer or field jacket for later. Chunky sweatshirt situations, be gone. I am linking two options that will pretty much sum up requirements to mix and match with any jacket.
The first is my preference and which I already ordered, too. This COS Hooded Vest I liked for its ‘crisp’ read: clean composition and light colorway which will match perfectly with espresso, creams and even blues. I liked the hidden zipper and how it has structure to it so you can pretty much consider it a jacket on its own, as well, when you’re not busy layering it :)

This Theory Wool+Cashmere Hooden Vest in a muted beige tone is a great option to add a tonal brown hue to an espresso outfit base. Plus, the outline of the pockets on the sides is a touch of interest without being overpowering.
Here is a snapshot of the overall style mood I envisioned and chatted about throughout. I added a sneaker option as I am a sneaker gal after all (+boot gal) and only felt like a natural pairing alongside the option of the ‘boxing boot’. :)

With that, Happy Sunday! I’ll leave you to all your shopping and wishlist creating. Feel free to send me a comment or an DM with any styling questions and/or Fall style topics you’d be interested in chatting more about. :)
