So the week flew by, as every week does but, this one, particularly so. Here is the Mid-Week Style Snack with a Week-end inspired twist. Happy Weekend!
A Quilted Trench Coat: And one by By Marlene Birger, to be exact, and! which I recently sourced (currently, eagerly waiting for the delivery) this modern and dare I say edgy take on a classic heritage quilted coat. Shop on the site sale here in various sizes and here, here at even further discounted pricing available in size EU 38 currently for these last two.
I was immediately drawn to the slight tapered/tulip effect of the silhouette of the coat along with the metallic punctuations throughout of the buttons. I applied my usual investment purchase reasoning of thinking of at least 3 occasions I can wear this to and if these circumstances are repeatable. Indeed, I did and they were!
I envision wearing this over 1: My slim fit denim, vest, neck scarf and leather knee boots or Italian style hiking boots for visits to the countryside. 2: An icon-inspired mini dress paired with loafers and socks for date night in the city (Which iconic mini dress, you ask? More on this one at the end of this newsletter. If you must!, feel free to scroll down to the end but, don’t forget to come back to the other amazing pieces included in this article. I promise, they are worth scrolling back to :). 3: A pair of leggings, ribbed socks, sweatshirt with hoodie sweatshirt on top (I find myself endlessly referencing MiuMiu’s FW23 collection), paired with lush cozy shearling clogs (see reference below) and topped off with This BMB coat. It is as statement, versatile and timeless as it can get. A piece that elevates any outfit to a whole other level of interesting sartorial flair. Here are also two quilted coat options under $300 here and here.
A Double Sided Wool Quilted Jacket: I am loving this wool jacket by Varley. Give me a versatile and elegantly constructed sporty piece and you’ll have me smiling. Like the quilted coat discussed above, this jacket will take you from gym to coffee to office to even date night looking and feeling! like a million and its under $300. So, in summary, two jackets in one, a luxurious construction and materials, a timeless color and cut, and above all a piece that will bode well basically anywhere your day takes you is a sound investment in my sartorial book. May I suggest pairing as a sporty tonal look or as a stunning contrast, draped over your shoulders with a minimalist 90s inspired dress (again, see below!) and boots for an effortlessly cool and laid-back feel.
A Lush Pair of Shearling Clogs: So, I am a LONG time fan of Jenni Kanye clogs. These shearling clogs are by far the best pair of casual slip on shoes I have owned. They hug the foot in all the right places - the midfoot is perfectly supported (this includes the arch) the top of the shoe perfectly hugs the dorsal region (the top of the foot), the sole has amazing grip (which, if you are anything like me and exhibit slight clumsy tendencies!, this is a phenomenal shoe trait) and the shearling is beyond impeccably lush. My first pair I owned, the camel tone shearling version, was with me day in and day out for about three years. As I write this newsletter for you today, my second pair, this time in black shearling, is hugging my feet. They pair equally well with denim, leggings and ribbed socks and elevate your pajamas to that next level of cozy luxury. Again, another piece that wins the(my) sound sartorial investment guidelines. PS: As soon as the camel tone version is available (will they be available? fingers crossed!) I will definitely be adding.to.cart.
The Next Take on the Carrie Bradshaw Jersey Mini Dress: I’m sure the iconic style moment is forever etched in our minds but, here is a reference if needed, Vogue inspo here. A longer version of the original inspo, this midi version is elegantly finished. I am loving the tube top neckline and the slight sheen of the slate toned cupro material. Maybe throw a maxi fringed cardigan like this and this one, and Ray-Ban aviators as an ode to Ms. Bradshaw? Or maybe you want something more akin to the original mini Carrie wore?
Do not fret, St. Agni, once again, to the rescue with a restock of their grey knit mini (as seen on Kendall Jenner.) I would go so far as to say, that investing in both would be a purchase well made - think of all the places you could go with this/these dress(es)! I mean this sartorially speaking (from the office, to a casual coffee run, to an elegant dinner - just switch out the layers and accessories) and literally, as these dresses would pack so well for a carry-on only trip and meet all the attire reqs. Here is another good ribbed option with a crew neck style of this iconic mini (with more of a sportier vibe) and under $60! Also, here’s an under $200 cardigan to layer over said mini (or midi!) dress - loving the après ski/alpine vibes and it’s from the men’s section so will lend itself to a perfectly oversized draped feel over the body-con nature of the dress. Continuing on the earlier style hint, perhaps paired with either of the jackets included in this article for that edgy take on heritage or dressed up take on sporty?
Get ready for your very own icon moment - even if no one else notices (like, who cares really? when you’re dressing for you!) but, I mean they will take note - you will feel the vibe paired with anything from flip flops, to Adidas, to boots and heels. This little dress and oversized jackets! really do it all.
Until next week’s mid-week (week-end?!) style snack.
